About The Position

The Controller will have specific responsibility for all the day to day accounting, reporting and control aspects of the Finance team and will directly supervise the areas of financial reporting, accounts payable, payroll and inventory control functions. The position will monitor all financial activities on property to ensure the applicable laws, rules, regulations and controls of the property, federal and state government and gaming commission are enforced throughout the property. The position will be responsible for creating a sense of team spirit and promoting a positive work environment. Responsible for actively building and retaining customer relations and acts as a mentor to employees in order to provide superior customer service. Hires, trains, motivates, evaluates and directs staff to ensure that employees receive adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established objectives. Assists internal, contracted, and regulatory auditors in their examination of accounting records to ensure that auditors receive adequate information and interpretation for effective inspection of Belterra Casino Resort & Spa records. Consults with management on issues pertaining to accounting in order to provide informational and analytical support for management decision-making. Reviews, analyzes, and adjusts financial statements of departments in order to ensure their accuracy. Participates in the design, development and implementation of gaming and non-gaming related management and accounting systems to ensure that systems are consistent with accounting requirements; monitors the effectiveness of accounting systems. Performs special audits to provide high level of expertise on matters of a complex or sensitive nature.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of general accepted accounting procedures (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and gaming laws and regulations.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills.
  • Positive attitude with an eagerness to learn and advance.
  • Ability to lead a team.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Accounting Degree required.
  • Accountant experience required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all licenses / certifications per Federal, State, and Gaming regulations.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
  • Five years of work-related experience, at least two years of which must have been in a supervisory role.
