About The Position

The Financial Planning & Analysis team provides the insights, reporting, and planning support that help guide business decisions across the organization. As a Financial Analyst, you'll support month-end close activities, annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, reporting, and strategic initiatives for assigned business units. You'll work closely with Senior Analysts to coordinate planning cycles, maintain reporting and allocation processes, and prepare accurate financial information for leadership review. You'll also help create standardized templates, reports, and dashboards that make it easier to identify trends, explain variances, and support decision-making. This is a collaborative role where strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work while gaining visibility across the broader organization. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

Requirements

  • Experience in advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A degree/diploma in finance, accounting, business, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, financial planning and analysis, reporting, or a related finance function.
  • Legally eligible to work at the location(s) specified and, where applicable, must have a valid work or study permit.
  • Skills: Accounting, Analytical Thinking, Communication, Deposit Products, Expense Forecasting, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Lending Products, Market Analysis, Process Improvements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Essbase.

Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Analysts in coordinating monthly and quarterly forecasts, as well as the annual planning process for assigned business units.
  • Develop and prepare standard reporting, dashboards, and financial presentations that help leaders identify trends, understand variances, and make informed decisions.
  • Prepare journal entries, support month-end close activities, and help ensure the accuracy of monthly financial statements.
  • Maintain management reporting infrastructure cost allocations, complete annual updates, and process monthly allocations accurately and on time.
  • Collaborate with partners across the team to support business case development and contribute to strategic projects that are integral to the planning process.
  • Manage your work in alignment with CIBC's risk culture by following applicable policies, controls, and required training, and escalating concerns through the appropriate channels when needed.
