About The Position

The Financial Analyst supports Halifax Operations through a balanced mix of financial management, business partnering, and operational analytics. The role is approximately 50% Finance-focused, including month-end activities, budgeting, and financial analysis, and 50% Business Operations support, including costing, quality investigations, planning, logistics, and the development of tools and reports. The Financial Analyst works closely with cross-functional teams in Finance, Operations, Quality, Planning, Logistics, and Taxation, using strong analytical skills and hands-on experience with SAP and Excel-based reporting to improve financial visibility and operational performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in financial analysis, operational finance, cost analysis, or a closely related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong hands-on working knowledge of SAP, including Finance and Operations modules, for data extraction, analysis, and reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and other Excel-based reporting and analysis functions.
  • Proven experience supporting financial month-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Experience with budgeting cycles and cost analysis in a corporate or operational environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and work with large data sets.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and improve financial and operational reporting packages and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across Finance, Operations, and other business units.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present analysis and insights to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience performing variance analysis and financial reconciliations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operations environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing, operations, aerospace, or industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with operational and financial tools such as NIP, ECAR, Ariba, BPS, P2P, and operational dashboards.
  • Exposure to Power BI, including dashboard development, enhancements, and data visualization.
  • Experience supporting automation initiatives, particularly related to machine and labor hour data.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly financial reviews, including recoveries analysis, and support the preparation of month-end financial reporting packages.
  • Complete budget preparation, long-range plan (LRP) updates, and depreciation simulations to support financial planning and decision-making.
  • Maintain, extract, and analyze financial data using SAP, BPS, and related reporting tools to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Create and close internal orders (IOs) for project-based financial activities and ensure proper tracking of project costs.
  • Prepare journal entries for various categories, including operational, capital, and other financial transactions.
  • Generate financial reporting packages and respond to ad hoc financial analysis requests from stakeholders.
  • Support reconciliations for financial shared services, internal reporting, and government grant invoices using SAP and P2P tools.
  • Drive continuous improvements in financial reporting packages, processes, and data visibility to enhance efficiency and transparency.
  • Manage assets under construction (AUC), fixed asset forms (FAFs), reclasses, and capital tooling and asset counts to support capital management and compliance.
  • Support methods of evaluation (MOEs) through ECAR and assist in preparing documentation for capital and tax-related processes.
  • Facilitate tax-related submissions and prepare backup packages for government grants, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
  • Reconcile grant-related invoicing using SAP, P2P, and related systems to ensure accurate funding recognition.
  • Evaluate and investigate quality and cost issues, supporting monthly forecasting and providing variance explanations for operations and quality teams.
  • Provide detailed cost breakdowns, including by part number and accrual type, to support operational and financial decision-making.
  • Support the development and maintenance of dashboards and reporting tools, including contributions to Power BI initiatives.
  • Collaborate with data analytics teams to enhance Power BI dashboards and operational reporting for improved forecasting and KPI visibility.
  • Support the development of reports and methods to improve forecasting accuracy, operational visibility, and key performance indicators.
  • Resolve costing issues and support reviews of labor and shop rates, routings, and work centers to ensure accurate cost structures.
  • Provide work center reporting and shop hours analysis using SAP and related tools to support operational efficiency.
  • Assist in automation projects related to machine and labor hours, helping to streamline data capture and reporting.
  • Support logistics and inventory activities, including inventory reconciliations, split assistance, and recharge processes for returns, scrap, and provisions.
  • Participate in scrap evaluation activities and communicate findings and recommendations to business partners.
  • Analyze work-in-progress (WIP) movement reports and cost variances, and incorporate operational data into relevant financial models and tools.
  • Provide frequent ad hoc analytical support to manufacturing leadership, finance, and quality teams within Halifax Operations.
  • Collaborate effectively across Finance, Operations, Quality, Planning, Logistics, and Taxation to support both financial and operational objectives.
  • Present financial and operational analysis in a clear and understandable way to non-financial stakeholders.
