About The Position
The Accounting Branch is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Financial Accounting Control framework, including: financial accounting policies, procedures, and processes; financial audits and controls; and ensuring the proper recording of financial transactions and compliance with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS). You are responsible for monitoring, analyzing, providing financial advice, and reporting on the city's accounts.
Requirements
- Completion of 3 year certificate or diploma in Business Administration or Financial Management
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in an accounting environment
- SAP
- Microcomputer systems and applications
- Accounting principles
- Organizational structure and responsibilities of the city
- City account code structure
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
- Take initiative and work under a minimum amount of supervision
- Exercise considerable independent judgement
- Perform work accurately, legibly, and in an organized manner
- Communicate effectively
- Meet deadlines
- English oral, reading, writing
