About The Position

EJ is hiring a Financial Analyst to support accurate financial reporting and informed business decisions. The role analyzes manufacturing costs, maintains standard costs, reviews variances, and monitors inventory valuations. It also supports improvements to financial processes and compliance through technology, artificial intelligence, and data analysis. The Financial Analyst analyzes, designs, implements, supports, and documents financial and operational information systems. This includes system configuration, testing, quality control, user training, troubleshooting, and reporting. The position works with Finance and Accounting systems and supports month-end close, audits, budgeting, and management reporting. Travel may be required, including assisting with physical inventories at company locations. EJ is a family-owned company with global operations and corporate headquarters in East Jordan, Michigan. It designs, manufactures, and distributes access solutions for water, sewer, drainage, telecommunications, and utility networks.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business analytics, information systems, or a related field.
At least 2–3 years of experience in financial analysis, cost accounting, data analytics, or a related analytical role.
Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, data analysis, filtering, and reporting.
Ability to analyze large data sets, identify trends, investigate variances, and provide data-driven recommendations.
Working knowledge of financial analysis, cost accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Experience working with ERP systems and business intelligence or reporting platforms.
Strong critical thinking skills, including the ability to identify root causes, troubleshoot data discrepancies, and develop solutions.
Strong attention to detail.

Experience with M3, Domo, Prophix, or similar systems.
Ability and willingness to travel, as travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Maintain and analyze the company’s standard costing processes.
Analyze financial data and cost deviations to determine explanations for variances.
Implement, maintain, and support software applications used by Finance and Accounting, including integrations with internal systems and banking partners.
Apply GAAP knowledge to ensure financial system designs and configurations comply with accounting principles and financial regulations.
Monitor inventory accuracy through transaction reviews, cycle counts, and variance analysis, ensuring accounting follows company guidelines.
Collaborate with other departments to support accurate inventory valuation and reporting.
Prepare cost and inventory analyses for month-end close, audits, budgeting, and management reporting.
Identify opportunities to improve costing processes, inventory controls, and reporting accuracy.
Use multiple information systems, including M3, Excel, DOMO, Prophix, and Salesforce.
Assist with physical inventories at company locations.
Work with external accountants to provide special reports and analyses for year-end audits.
Communicate and collaborate with colleagues inside and outside the department to accomplish company goals.
Assist with departmental and company-wide special projects.
