About The Position

The Financial Analyst supports KIPP Atlanta Schools’ financial planning, reporting, and performance management processes by producing timely, accurate, and decision-useful financial analysis. Reporting to the Director of FP&A, this role supports monthly reporting, forecasting, budget development, cash forecast inputs, and recurring compliance and financial reporting needs, including DE046 and Food Service reporting. The Financial Analyst also maintains reporting tools and data structures that improve visibility, consistency, and decision-making across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, public administration, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, budgeting, accounting, strategic finance, or a related field.
  • Strong Excel skills required, including lookups, pivot tables, and analytical schedule building.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining productive working relationships within and across teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts in non-technical terms and tailor communication to stakeholder groups.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and support sound decision-making.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities, multi-task, work in a fast-paced demanding environment, operate effectively with ambiguity, and take on new responsibilities as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference for experience with financial systems and reporting tools such as Vena, Intacct, Ramp, Power BI, or Tableau.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare recurring monthly budget-to-actual reporting packages for assigned schools, departments, or programs.
  • Perform variance analysis and identify drivers of financial performance, including staffing, enrollment, contracted services, supplies, and timing-related variances.
  • Support the monthly and quarterly forecast process by updating actuals, validating assumptions, and preparing forecast schedules for assigned portfolios.
  • Support the annual budgeting process through template preparation, data collection, assumption validation, and quality control checks.
  • Assist with cash forecasting, long-range planning schedules, and scenario analysis as assigned.
  • Support preparation of recurring compliance and reporting deliverables, including DE046 and Food Service financial reporting.
  • Prepare supporting schedules, reconciliations, and documentation needed for state, internal, and management reporting.
  • Produce exception reports and compliance tracking to monitor adherence to finance procedures, timelines, and reporting requirements.
  • Support school and departmental finance monitoring by organizing data, maintaining trackers, and following up on open items.
  • Use financial systems and planning tools, including Ramp, Intacct, Vena, and other data sources, to prepare accurate and actionable analyses.
  • Maintain reporting templates, dashboards, and workflows that improve team efficiency, data visibility, and reporting quality.
  • Validate data integrity across financial systems and identify inconsistencies requiring correction or escalation.
  • Support continuous improvement of reporting structures, processes, and standard operating procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with accounting, school-based leaders, and regional stakeholders to gather information, clarify financial questions, and support decision-making.
  • Attend Finance Team meetings, Support Team meetings, and other regional meetings as needed.
