Financial Analyst
About The Position
The Financial Analyst is a member of New Era Cap’s Finance team and assists with accounting, tax compliance, reporting, reconciliations, payments, and other finance-related activities. The role offers exposure to a variety of finance functions and works with internal teams to support compliance, reporting, and daily operations. The analyst helps maintain financial records, support audits, coordinate payments, and ensure accurate completion of finance- and tax-related processes. The Tax team supports compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations across global operations and accurate financial reporting. It partners with Finance and other teams on tax planning, filings, and risk mitigation to help optimize the company’s tax position and maintain compliance standards. This position is based 100% on-site at New Era Cap’s headquarters in downtown Buffalo, New York. The headquarters includes an on-site café, fitness center, and Flagship store. Travel is 0% to 5%, domestic and/or global.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Zero to two years of accounting, finance, tax, or related experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), with strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Thoroughness and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication with individuals at varying levels in the organization.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team environment.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and ability to learn new concepts and processes.

Responsibilities
- Support estimated tax, extension, property tax, and royalty withholding payments, including tracking, processing, and related mailings.
- Retrieve, scan, organize, and maintain tax-related correspondence and documentation.
- Prepare monthly transfer pricing calculations, intercompany invoices, and related journal entries.
- Prepare general ledger reconciliations and post monthly tax journal entries in SAP.
- Prepare and file international information returns, including Forms 1042-S and NR4.
- Support Canadian indirect tax compliance, including GST and QST filings and monthly payments.
- Maintain fixed asset records and process monthly depreciation calculations.
- Coordinate treaty and residency documentation, including Forms 8802 and tax residency certificates.
- Track professional and consulting fees to support budgeting and reporting activities.
- Support responses to tax notices and communications with tax authorities as needed.
- Prepare financial, census, and other regulatory surveys, including cross-functional data collection.
- Support collection of charitable contribution acknowledgements, reconciliation of related general ledger accounts, and identification of foundation-related expenses.
- Process payment vouchers and invoices through Concur in a timely and accurate manner.
- Support vendor setup and annual Form 1099 preparation and filing.
- Support month-end close activities.
- Prepare and process intercompany invoices, ensuring appropriate support, coding, and timely communication with internal business partners.
- Support auditor and advisor information requests by organizing and uploading supporting documentation.
- Prepare monthly cash account reconciliations.
- Support special projects and other finance, accounting, and tax initiatives as assigned.
- Keep all sensitive matters confidential.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
