About The Position

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) is seeking a Financial Aid Scholarship Counselor to join the UNLV Financial Aid department. This role is highly visible and assists with the timely processing of scholarship awards, ensuring adherence to donor specifications, institutional policies, and Board of Regents policies. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of Federal Title IV regulations, scholarship administration rules, Millennium Scholarship Program, and other state scholarship/grant programs. The Scholarship Counselor collaborates with various campus departments, external foundations, and state offices to manage scholarship disbursements. This role involves running, monitoring, and interpreting data from spreadsheets and reports. All positions in Academic Affairs contribute to UNLV's core mission of increasing enrollment and promoting equitable student success by enhancing student enrollment, retention, progression, completion, and outcomes. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • 1 - 3 years of Related Professional Experience.
  • 1-3 years of Customer service experience.
  • 1-3 years of public speaking experience.
  • 1-3 years of standard and electronic presentations experience.
  • Experience working in a high-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing timely scholarship awards.
  • Ensure various scholarship programs disburse according to donor specifications and institutional or Board of Regents policies.
  • Manage scholarship disbursements by working with external foundations and programs.
  • Run, accurately monitor, and interpret data from spreadsheets and reports.
  • Collaborate with the Recruitment team, UNLV Foundation, UNLV Graduate College, various UNLV Departments, summer orientation programs, Clark County High Schools, the Cashiering and Student Accounts Office, the Nevada Treasurer’s Office, and the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE).
