About The Position

The Financial Aid Counselor I serves as an embedded representative supporting student-facing positions, including Academic Advisors and Admissions Counselors. The role handles a high volume of internal contacts in a call center environment and directly assists Regent University students as needed to resolve complex cases and escalated accounts, as well as to support new-hire training. The counselor serves as an expert on financial aid and payment plan options.

The position is based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Qualified candidates may be considered for remote work depending on location. The stated salary range is $40,000–$42,000 annually.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate higher education experience.

Responsibilities

• Answer simple and complex financial aid questions accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain expert knowledge of federal, state, institutional, and external award programs.
• Stay current on student-related programs and policies, including admissions protocol, financial aid, international admissions, military affairs, and student housing.
• Provide service to internal and external customers and navigate organizational structures to support a one-stop-shop student experience.
• Handle a high volume of contacts concerning financial aid, payment plans, and account collections.
• Coordinate and participate in financial aid events.
• Support new-hire training experiences.
• Engage directly with students to resolve complex cases and escalated accounts as needed.
