About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a Financial Aid Advisor 1 to join our Financial Aid team. Financial Aid Advisors advise and counsel a diverse population of students and parents on all aspects of financial aid, including program eligibility, budgeting, financial planning strategies, and satisfactory academic progress. Advisors review aid applications, package financial aid, administer aid programs, and monitor student eligibility within federal, state, and institutional regulations. In this role, you will manage assigned programs of increasing complexity and work alongside office leadership to carry out the unit's core functions. As a member of a team of advisors, you will share responsibility for delivering excellent customer service to every student and family we serve.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience OR Master’s Degree and one (1) year of related work experience
  • Related work experience in higher education

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned programs of increasing complexity.
  • Work alongside office leadership to carry out the unit's core functions.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to every student and family.
  • Advise and counsel students and parents on financial aid.
  • Review aid applications.
  • Package financial aid.
  • Administer aid programs.
  • Monitor student eligibility within federal, state, and institutional regulations.
  • Specific duties may be assigned in areas such as: Federal Work Study and Regents Service Program, Loan Management, Scholarship Management, Verification and Professional Judgment, Outreach and Financial Literacy.
