About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is seeking a Financial Aid Advisor 1 to join their Financial Aid team. This role involves advising and counseling a diverse student and parent population on all aspects of financial aid, including program eligibility, budgeting, financial planning strategies, and satisfactory academic progress. The advisor will review aid applications, package financial aid, administer aid programs, and monitor student eligibility within federal, state, and institutional regulations. Responsibilities include managing assigned programs of increasing complexity and working with office leadership to carry out core functions. As part of a team, the advisor will share responsibility for delivering excellent customer service.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of related work experience OR Master’s Degree and one (1) year of related work experience.
Related work experience in higher education.

Responsibilities

Advise and counsel students and parents on financial aid programs, eligibility, budgeting, financial planning, and satisfactory academic progress.
Review financial aid applications.
Package financial aid.
Administer aid programs.
Monitor student eligibility within federal, state, and institutional regulations.
Manage assigned programs of increasing complexity.
Work with office leadership to carry out core functions.
Deliver excellent customer service.
Manage Federal Work Study and Regents Service Program.
Manage Loan Programs.
Manage Scholarship Programs.
Conduct Verification and Professional Judgment.
Perform Outreach and Financial Literacy activities.
