The Financial Advocate Contact Center - Midwest position is a full-time role within the Enterprise Revenue Cycle department, focusing on Insured Patient Estimation. This remote position operates Monday through Friday from 0800 to 1700 CST. The role involves calculating and communicating patients' estimated financial responsibility based on their insurance coverage prior to services, explaining concepts like deductibles and coinsurance, and requesting upfront payments. It also includes interviewing uninsured patients to assess financial needs, identifying assistance programs, and coordinating the completion of applications. The Financial Advocate will also perform credit scoring to determine eligibility for programs like Medicaid and charity care, and collaborate with social workers or external vendors for application completion. A strong understanding of insurance benefits, payer sources, and relevant organizational policies is required. The role also involves educating offices and patients on policies, coordinating with provider offices regarding scheduling and financial responsibility, and staying current on government funding regulations. Compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA, internal charity care policies, and federal regulations like 501R is essential. Collaboration with peers for uninsured patients and serving consumers in various settings are also key aspects of the role.
