About The Position

Join the team at Christ the King Manor and make a meaningful impact by helping residents and families navigate the Medicaid eligibility process for long-term care services. We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Financial Advocate to assist residents and families with Medicaid eligibility and application processes for nursing home care. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience preparing Medicaid applications, a strong understanding of long-term care Medicaid regulations, and the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of Pennsylvania Medicaid regulations related to nursing home eligibility, spousal impoverishment rules, and asset protection strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information professionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience preparing Medicaid applications for long-term care preferred.
  • Experience in nursing homes, long-term care, hospital discharge planning, healthcare billing, or social services strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management abilities with high attention to detail.
  • Experience with electronic health records and Medicaid portals preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred if outreach or off-site meetings are required.

Responsibilities

  • Interview residents and families to gather financial and personal information required for Medicaid eligibility.
  • Prepare, submit, and monitor Medicaid applications, renewals, and appeals accurately and within required timelines.
  • Review income, assets, trusts, transfers, and spousal/resource protection issues and advise families regarding required documentation.
  • Coordinate with admissions, billing, social services, and legal representatives to resolve eligibility concerns.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case files and track application status within facility systems.
  • Educate residents and families on Medicaid regulations, spend-down requirements, and long-term care payment options.
  • Monitor updates to Medicaid policies and implement process improvements as needed.
  • Provide education and guidance to staff regarding Medicaid procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, HIPAA, and facility confidentiality regulations.
