Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work or education-related experience required.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in accounting, including hands-on experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and applying GAAP principles, with exposure to fixed assets or ERP systems preferred.
  • Experience with managing and prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing business needs, and working both independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and reconcile balance sheet accounts, digging into discrepancies and ensuring everything ties out accurately across areas like loans, fixed assets, and payroll.
  • Review invoices and transactions, ensuring expenses are properly categorized as capital or operational and aligned with general ledger standards.
  • Maintain the accuracy and completeness of accounting records, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Partner with teams across the credit union, helping resolve accounting issues and providing insights that support better business decisions.
  • Prepare daily and month-end journal entries and play a key role in the month-end and year-end close, including trend analysis and reporting.
  • Take ownership of fixed asset processes, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, and adjustments—especially within the ERP system.
  • Contribute to system enhancements and play an important role in the upcoming ERP implementation, helping ensure accounting processes are efficient and scalable.
  • Prepare reports and schedules for audits and regulatory requirements, while also supporting ad hoc reporting needs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and enhance data accuracy across the organization.
  • Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation to support consistency and operational excellence.
