About The Position

The Accountant – Financial Accounting will assist in preparing monthly and quarterly journal entries and will be a contributor in the preparation of financial statements and analysis of financial reporting results. This position requires knowledge of oil and gas accounting and knowledge of financial reporting and analytics. The Accountant will also be responsible for various types of entries and reports and should have a strong knowledge of general excel functionality and data analysis. Diamondback Energy is an independent oil and natural gas company headquartered in Midland, Texas focused on the acquisition, development, exploration, and exploitation of unconventional, onshore oil and natural gas reserves in the Permian Basin in West Texas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (BBA or BS) in accounting
• At least (1) or more years of Oil and Gas Accounting Experience
• At least (1) or more years of demonstrated experience and ability work in MS Excel, including skills creating and configuring VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and Sum IF formulas

Responsibilities

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and analyze balances for appropriate transactions
• Compile monthly and quarterly journal entries
• Assist in preparation and analysis of financial statements
• Help produce SEC support and footnotes related to duties assigned
• Help prepare schedules as needed for external auditors
• Other duties and special projects as assigned
