Serval•San Francisco, CA
•$190,000 - $235,000

About The Position

Serval is hiring a Finance Transformation Manager to serve as the technical backbone of its lean Finance team. The role focuses primarily on transforming finance operations by owning the finance systems roadmap, building automations and agents on Serval, connecting finance data, and creating a trusted view of revenue, go-to-market, and cost data for leadership. It also includes hands-on corporate accounting work, such as close tasks, reconciliations, complex calculations, Ramp bills, and corporate card management, with the aim of automating recurring work over time. The Finance Transformation Manager will report to the VP, Controller and partner closely with the Head of Finance, RevOps, Engineering, Sales and Marketing leadership, and the revenue accounting team. The role requires someone who can build and deploy production AI agents and automations, understand accounting workflows, develop data models and dashboards, and translate finance needs into technical requirements. The role also owns the controls, audit trails, documentation, training, and production support needed to make automated workflows reliable and auditable.

Requirements

  • 6 to 10 years of combined experience across accounting or finance operations and finance systems.
  • Experience leading at least one implementation or transformation from planning through testing, training, and go-live.
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying AI agents, LLM workflows, or automations used in production.
  • Strong working knowledge of the close, reconciliations, accruals, and revenue, sufficient to own close tasks and identify automation opportunities.
  • SQL skills and comfort building data models and dashboards from source systems such as an ERP, CRM, and spend tools.
  • Python or similar scripting experience for automation and integration work.
  • Experience with APIs, workflow or integration tools, and working directly with engineers on technical requirements.
  • Ability to explain system designs or data gaps to non-technical executives and obtain decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Rillet, Ramp, Salesforce, or a modern data stack such as a warehouse, dbt, or BI tools.
  • Exposure to Serval as a customer, user, or builder.
  • Background at a high-growth software or AI company.
  • Familiarity with internal controls, SOX, or supporting external audits.

Responsibilities

  • Map manual Finance workflows, prioritize automation opportunities by time saved and risk reduced, and own the backlog and roadmap.
  • Design and deploy Serval-first agents and workflows for reconciliations, journal entry preparation, accruals, close task tracking, variance analysis, and reporting.
  • Own project plans, milestones, and risks for transformation initiatives, and report status to the VP, Controller and Head of Finance.
  • Evaluate and pilot finance tools when Serval is not the right fit, and develop the business case for adoption.
  • Connect Rillet, Salesforce, Ramp, billing and usage data, payroll, and marketing systems into a trusted finance data layer.
  • Build data models for sales, marketing, and cost reporting so bookings, pipeline, spend, and unit economics use a shared source of truth.
  • Replace manual spreadsheets with automated dashboards that help leadership assess investment opportunities.
  • Partner with Engineering and RevOps on integrations and internal tooling, translating requirements into technical specifications.
  • Own selected close tasks hands-on, including account reconciliations and complex calculations, and automate them to shorten the close.
  • Manage day-to-day operations such as Ramp bills, corporate cards, vendor setup, and spend approvals, and automate routine workflows.
  • Optimize Rillet, including its chart of accounts, subledgers, workflows, and reporting.
  • Design human-in-the-loop controls, audit trails, and documentation to ensure automated outputs are accurate and audit-ready.
  • Write runbooks, train the Finance team on new tools, and own shipped systems in production.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to play a key role in shaping the success of the product and company.
  • Opportunity to build a new AI product offering with support from an experienced team and investors, and grow with the company.
  • A culture that values innovation, ownership, accountability, and fun.
