About The Position

Sagard is seeking a hands-on Finance Technology Project Manager (contract) to lead the delivery of finance systems and accounting technology initiatives across the firm. This role is focused on bringing structure, clarity and execution discipline to finance transformation projects, including ERP implementations, accounts payable automation, enterprise performance management, expense management and related finance operations platforms. Given Sagard's active M&A environment, this role will also play a key part in integration-focused finance technology initiatives, helping acquired or newly integrated businesses align to scalable accounting systems, processes, controls and reporting standards. You will partner closely with Finance, Digital Solutions, IT, vendors and business stakeholders to ensure projects are well-scoped, effectively planned and delivered with strong governance, business adoption and process discipline. The ideal candidate combines strong project management fundamentals with deep accounting technology expertise. A CPA who has transitioned into finance systems implementation would be considered a strong fit, though a CPA designation is preferred and not required. This role reports to the Digital Solutions team, with close partnership across Finance and IT to ensure alignment with project management standards, tools and best practices across the firm.

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in finance systems project management, finance transformation, accounting technology implementation or related roles
  • Strong understanding of accounting operations, finance processes and system-enabled controls
  • Experience leading or supporting implementations of accounting and finance systems such as ERPs, AP automation, EPM, expense management or consolidation platforms
  • Hands-on experience with systems such as Sage Intacct, SAP, Concur, Workday or OneStream considered a strong asset
  • CPA designation preferred but not required, particularly for candidates who have transitioned into systems implementation or finance transformation
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects involving Finance, IT, vendors and senior stakeholders
  • Strong project management fundamentals including planning, risk management, governance, status reporting and communication
  • Ability to translate finance and accounting requirements into clear business-friendly documentation and implementation plans
  • Experience developing formal business requirements, process documentation, test plans, training materials and cutover plans
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, Asana, Smartsheet or MS Project
  • Experience implementing finance or accounting technology in M&A, post-merger integration or other integration-focused environments is strongly preferred
  • Certification in project management such as PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent considered an asset
  • Proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for all positions in Québec. English is required due to regular interaction with colleagues and external partners outside Québec.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of finance systems and accounting technology projects, ensuring on-time, on-budget and in-scope execution
  • Develop detailed project plans including timelines, milestones, dependencies, resource allocation and stakeholder responsibilities
  • Identify and proactively manage risks, issues and blockers, driving timely resolution across Finance, IT, vendors and business partners
  • Translate finance process needs into clearly defined scopes, deliverables, business requirements and success criteria
  • Partner with Finance stakeholders to document current-state and future-state processes, controls, roles and decision points
  • Coordinate implementation activities for accounting and finance platforms such as ERPs, AP automation, EPM, expense management and related systems
  • Lead finance technology workstreams in M&A integration contexts, including process alignment, system onboarding, data readiness, controls mapping and transition planning
  • Support vendor management, including coordinating workplans, deliverables, status reporting, testing and issue resolution
  • Establish clear communication cadences including project updates, working sessions and steering committees
  • Communicate accounting technology concepts in a clear and structured way to both finance and non-finance audiences
  • Coordinate testing, data readiness, cutover planning, release activities and transition to operations and support teams
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure successful adoption of new finance systems, processes and ways of working
  • Apply consistent project management frameworks, tools and documentation aligned with Digital Solutions standards
  • Contribute to the evolution of finance transformation delivery practices, templates and repeatable playbooks
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, transparency, controls and delivery consistency across finance technology initiatives
