About The Position

The College of Medicine-Tucson invites applications for the position of Finance & Operations Professional II. The Finance & Operations Professional II is an integral member of the College of Medicine (COM) Administration Finance Team, providing accounting/budget/finance support to College of Medicine Administration in a professional and timely manner. This position is responsible for performing accounting activities, applying fund accounting principles, practices and techniques in accordance with the policies and procedures of University of Arizona and University of Arizona Foundation. The position must have the ability to effectively assess and respond to customer needs and demonstrate skill in administrative team support. Professional demeanor, customer service, and teamwork are required for this position. Visa sponsorship is not available for this positions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Working knowledge of accounting practices and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to resolve issues with a positive outcome.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals and via multiple methods (written, verbal, in-person, and virtual).
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, takes initiative and has strong ability to multi-task multiple projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Independently review, approve, and reconcile financial transactions including but not limited to payroll, reimbursement documents, purchasing cards and requisitions to ensure expenditures are appropriate and within budget limits.
  • Provide explanations and recommendations for budget variances.
  • Assist with position funding plans, reconcile biweekly admin unit payroll, coordinate with other business units on discrepancies.
  • Research and develop new tools/process improvements/automations to streamline activities and make recommendations to leadership.
  • Assist with various reconciliations including, state, designated, gift, and foundation accounts as well as prepare financial reports.
  • Communicate with units within College of Medicine Administration regarding account balances, allowable expenditures, providing guidance and training to administration's faculty and staff on University policies and procedures.
  • Annually assist management with College of Medicine Administration All Funds Annual Budget by gathering salary information, assisting with projecting operations, travel, capital equipment, etc.
  • Process financial documents in University of Arizona Financials and Foundation.
