Finance Manager, Prisons and Justice Initiative – Georgetown University
About The Position
The Finance Manager (a one-year renewable term position) performs complex financial functions requiring advanced knowledge of university policies, external regulations, and financial systems. This position is responsible for managing and analyzing the financial operations of the Prisons and Justice Initiative (PJI), including budgets, forecasts, grant compliance, and financial reporting. The role conducts financial analyses and prepares recommendations to support strategic decision-making, ensure compliance, and improve financial processes. The Finance Manager serves as the primary financial resource for PJI and represents the unit in coordination with university financial offices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of professional experience in financial analysis, accounting, or financial management.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing budgets, financial statements, and financial data.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, financial modeling).
- Strong knowledge of financial systems, reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to interpret and apply institutional policies and financial regulations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with Workday financial systems.
- Prior financial experience at Georgetown University or similar higher education environment.
- Experience with sponsored project financial management, grant reporting, and compliance.
