About The Position

The Finance Manager, Americas & Africa is a strategic regional finance leader responsible for overseeing accounting and financial operations across the United States, Latin America (Mexico, Peru, Brazil), and Africa (Kenya). This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant accounting practices across multiple country offices while driving regional consistency, strong internal controls, and continuous process improvement. The Finance Manager leads regional actuals reporting, variance analysis, and compliance across tax, banking, and audit requirements, while partnering on global finance initiatives such as financial systems, procurement, vendor management, and FP&A.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting finance or related field.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or closely related field.
  • Proven experience managing or overseeing accounting operations across multiple countries or regions.
  • Prior experience in a global nonprofit, NGO, or donor‑funded environment.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience working with diverse, multicultural teams.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with one of the following disciplines: financial systems and applications, procurement and vendor management, or financial planning & analysis.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
  • Being authorized to work in the country posted is a precondition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for delivering accurate, timely, and compliant accounting operations across the United States, Latin America (Mexico, Peru, Brazil), and Africa (Kenya).
  • Leads and supports Country Finance Generalists, reviews financial close and reporting, ensures compliance with organizational policies and local statutory requirements, and provides hands‑on guidance on complex accounting matters.
  • Responsible for driving regional consistency through process standardization, strengthening internal controls, and collaborating closely with the global finance team.
  • Leads accurate and timely actuals spend reporting across all country offices within the region.
  • Partners with Country Accountants and FP&A teams to review consolidated results, analyze variances against regional budgets and forecasts, and ensure consistent reporting practices.
  • Serves as the regional accounting point of contact for compliance with organizational and donor requirements, validates reconciliations to FP&A reporting, and supports regional financial reviews and strategic conversations.
  • Oversees finance compliance activities across assigned countries, ensuring alignment with local tax, banking, and audit requirements.
  • Coordinates compliance calendars, supports audit execution, and helps implement effective procedures and controls.
  • Maintains clear, proactive communication with stakeholders to ensure compliance milestones and deliverables are met efficiently across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Partners closely with global finance functional leads to contribute regional perspective, technical expertise, and practical insights to ongoing initiatives.
  • Supports consistent interpretation, application, and continuous improvement of global finance processes, policies, and systems, helping drive alignment and operational excellence across regions.
  • Builds a collaborative, high‑performing, and inclusive finance team across cultures and geographies.
  • Applies thoughtful talent practices to strengthen engagement, development, knowledge sharing, and the successful delivery of regional and global business outcomes.
