About The Position

The Finance Director, Biopharmaceutical CMO Operations provides strategic financial leadership for Samsung Biologics' Rockville manufacturing site. This role drives financial performance, client profitability, manufacturing cost optimization, capital investment planning, and long-range business strategy across contract manufacturing operations. Partnering closely with Commercial, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Technical Operations, and Executive Leadership, the Finance Director delivers financial insights that support growth, operational excellence, and sustainable profitability in a complex GMP-regulated environment.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience with at least 5 years in a finance leadership role.
  • Knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing economics and GMP-regulated operations.
  • Advanced ERP experience (SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, or similar).
  • Strong financial modeling, business partnering, and analytical capabilities.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and communicate effectively with executive leadership and external clients.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, CPA, CFA, CMA, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience within biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, CDMO/CMO, pharmaceutical manufacturing, or other complex manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting large-scale manufacturing expansions or greenfield projects.
  • Prior leadership experience within a global CDMO, biologics manufacturing, or pharmaceutical services organization.
  • Strong understanding of capacity planning, operational excellence, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site FP&A activities, including Annual Operating Plan (AOP), forecasts, and long-range strategic planning.
  • Partner with Commercial and Business Development teams on contract pricing, profitability analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Oversee product costing, manufacturing variance analysis, inventory valuation, and cost accounting processes.
  • Support technology transfer programs, scale-up activities, and client project financial performance.
  • Analyze capacity utilization, manufacturing yields, and operational performance to improve margins and asset efficiency.
  • Develop ROI, NPV, and business case analyses for major capital investments, facility expansions, and operational improvements.
  • Manage site budgets, operating expenses, and resource allocation to support business objectives.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to optimize inventory, working capital, and pass-through material costs.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, SOX, and corporate policies.
  • Provide financial leadership and decision support to senior site and corporate leadership teams.
