About The Position

The Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility, Inc., d.b.a. Energize Delaware, is a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire sustainable energy solutions for a thriving environment and economy. Energize Delaware is seeking a mission-driven Finance Officer to lead the organization’s financial management, capital strategy, and clean energy finance programs, such as our Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) and our Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) programs along with potential future bond issuances. This person will be responsible for assisting the Executive Director develop the annual budget and budget forecast. They will also be responsible for the management of our loan repayment and collections portfolio to include third party loan services partners.

Requirements

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics with MBA, CPA, CFA preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of energy efficiency and renewable energy industry preferred
  • Experience managing multiple budgets and funding sources with 5 or more years of experience
  • Experience with loan funds or energy finance preferred
  • Familiarity with ESPC, C-PACE, public-private partnerships, and sustainable lending organizations preferred
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Understanding of government accounting standards and non-profit finance required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to explain complex concepts for non-financial audiences

Responsibilities

  • Manage the annual budget and budget forecast
  • Manage loan portfolio both residential and commercial
  • Coordinate with staff on deployment of capital within the State
  • Maximize public and private capital
  • Advance clean energy solutions to expand our energy investment portfolio
  • Provide regular financial reporting to the Executive Director
  • Ensure compliance with all funding requirements
  • Assist with the annual auditing process
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure financial integrity
  • Manage the Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy Finance and Energy Saving Performance Contracting programs
  • Coordinate with capital providers and market participants
  • Monitor loan repayments and coordinating loan collections in cases of defaults
  • Act as program lead on bond issuance planning
  • Manage the SREC programs and SREC portfolio
  • Provide financial results and recommendations to support strategic decision-making
  • Establish best practices and standardized processes for financial planning and analysis.
  • Oversee internal controls and procedures to safeguard organizational assets and mitigate financial risk
