About The Position

Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance and Operations, the Finance Administrator is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the department, including budget monitoring, reconciliations, and the maintenance of accurate financial records. The position plays a key role in preparing financial reports, forecasts, and budget proposals, while ensuring departmental compliance with university policies and procedures. Serving as the primary liaison between the department and central finance, the Finance Administrator will manage contracts, funding allocations, and respond to financial inquiries from faculty, staff, and students. The role also includes providing training and guidance on financial processes and identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency through the implementation of best practices. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, well-organized, and capable of communicating financial information clearly to a diverse university community. The College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) combines Northeastern University’s signature approach to experiential learning with liberal arts education, interdisciplinary research, and community engagement, both locally and globally. The College comprises 20 academic units, including two schools, eight departments, and ten interdisciplinary programs, as well as 15 research centers and institutes. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of demonstrated financial experience required, preferably in higher education or non-profit environment
  • Experience with data management and analysis software (Excel, Tableau, SmartSheets) required
  • Extreme attention to detail and accuracy of finished work is critical.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the University
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a complex set of projects with competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Must be flexible, work well in a team and in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Workday Finance is beneficial.
