About The Position

Kokosing is seeking a Field Truck Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair a large fleet of light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks across multiple locations. This role involves performing routine and preventative maintenance, coordinating on-site repairs, documenting issues, and communicating effectively with plant managers to ensure safety, quality, and productivity. The position also includes a wide range of equipment repair and maintenance. The home base is in the Middletown, Ohio area, but extensive travel to complete repairs between Middletown, OH, and Indiana is required. Applicants living between these areas are welcome.

Requirements

  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Able to climb in, on, and around equipment.
  • Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to communicate well with operations and meet their needs.
  • Possess the ability to read and understand Equipment Maintenance Manuals.
  • Must be responsible, reliable, and willing to work in all weather conditions.
  • Need to have excellent communication skills, a good work ethic, and a positive attitude.
  • Able to travel.
  • Must be able to maintain an active company driver’s license.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Computer skills and use of diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose aftertreatment emission systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical experience preferred, training available.
  • Knowledge of specialized tooling.
  • Welding and heavy equipment knowledge is preferred.
  • Basic welding skills desired.
  • Crane knowledge a plus.
  • Desire to take on new challenges.
  • Small engine repair desired.

Responsibilities

  • Must follow all Safety Rules and have a personal commitment to safety 24/7.
  • Repair, maintain, and service fuel systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, AC systems, engine, transmission, drivetrain, and brakes for on/off-road vehicles per DOT and MSHA/OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain the company-supplied truck and operate it in a safe manner.
  • Communicate any equipment maintenance concerns in a timely manner.
  • Perform quality repairs while taking ownership of your work.
  • Perform inspections along with annual DOT inspections.
  • Willing to assist heavy equipment mechanics on large projects and perform small repairs while onsite.
