About The Position

The Training & Safety Specialist is responsible for delivering hands-on, on-the-job training and conducting routine safety inspections for janitorial staff and day porters across multiple client sites. This role ensures employees are properly trained in cleaning procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols while maintaining compliance with company standards, OSHA guidelines, and client expectations.

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years in janitorial, facility maintenance, or commercial cleaning
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and procedures
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and workplace safety practices
  • Ability to train diverse teams (including non-English speakers is a plus)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel between job sites regularly

Nice To Haves

  • Experience training or supervising cleaning staff preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site, hands-on training for janitors and day porters
  • Train employees on proper cleaning techniques (restrooms, floors, common areas, etc.)
  • Train employees on equipment usage (auto scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, etc.)
  • Train employees on chemical handling and dilution procedures
  • Onboard new hires with structured field training programs
  • Evaluate employee performance during and after training
  • Provide retraining and coaching as needed
  • Perform routine safety inspections across job sites
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective actions
  • Train staff on PPE usage
  • Train staff on Hazard communication (SDS)
  • Train staff on Slip/fall prevention
  • Train staff on Incident reporting procedures
  • Investigate safety incidents and document findings
  • Conduct site audits to ensure cleaning standards are met
  • Provide feedback to supervisors and operations managers
  • Assist in developing and maintaining SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Ensure consistency across multiple locations and teams
  • Travel to multiple client locations as needed
  • Work closely with operations, account managers, and supervisors
  • Support staffing transitions, new account startups, and problem sites
  • Act as a subject matter expert for best practices in cleaning and safety
