The Field Training Officer (FTO) serves as the principal training resource for a datacenter campus or metro location. The role provides training and may also support problem resolution, service enhancement, and process improvement related to security operations, safety, and training. The FTO reports directly to the Field Training Manager and works with other sites and regional and headquarters leadership. The position has no direct reports and collaborates with campus and sub-regional training leadership to assess employee, site, and campus needs. The FTO is the primary point of contact for onboarding and ongoing training at the site, campus, and country level. The role trains and certifies new security personnel, delivers refresher and sustainment training, evaluates performance, and maintains training records and certifications. It tracks training completion and maintains required training and safety documentation, conducts recurring audits, prepares reports, and handles critical or confidential information professionally and discreetly. The position promotes campus safety awareness, supports global and regional safety initiatives, identifies security or safety gaps, and escalates concerns. It works with campus security leadership on individual development plans and provides feedback on officers’ competence, compliance, and morale. The FTO collaborates with local leadership, the PMO training team, and program leadership to develop site-specific training plans, recommend schedules, and support compliance tools and processes. The role also communicates with client representatives and internal stakeholders, leads in-person and virtual training sessions, presentations, and group meetings, and supports additional operational tasks as needed. The role is onsite and requires frequent travel, approximately 50% of the time, including travel between sites and occasional travel between regions or countries. A valid passport and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays when operational needs require it, are essential. Work may involve outdoor or inclement weather and environments requiring protective gear. Physical duties include sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods, walking up to 12 miles (19 km) per shift, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds (11 kg).
