About The Position

The Lift Truck Field Technician services and repairs equipment independently and as part of a team. Equipment may include internal combustion and electric forklift trucks, allied products, and diesel engines. The technician must successfully complete extensive on-the-job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning to remain in the technician training program. The role calls for initiative, teamwork, customer service, and efficient problem-solving. Classification advancement depends on attitude, skill level, and job performance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of work experience involving mechanical repairs, or a combination of relevant experience and equivalent technical education.
• Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills.
• Intermediate engine, transmission, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic and repair skills.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Pass a pre-employment background check and physical exam, including a drug screen, and meet all physical requirements.
• Ability to speak, listen, write, and type effectively.
• Ability to reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, crawl under equipment, and climb ladders and equipment.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform minor repairs using the correct tools and procedures.
• Order and return parts for assigned jobs in a timely manner.
• Remove and install, disassemble and reassemble, and perform minor adjustments on basic engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical components.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to factory guidelines.
• Demonstrate proper use of service information systems.
• Work in field service as an experienced technician when required.
• Work independently in the field when required.
• Follow all applicable and required safety standards and procedures.
