About The Position

Leavitt Machinery is seeking a mechanically inclined Field Technician (Heavy Equipment or Automotive Mechanic) to join their Service team in Lakewood, Washington. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and performing routine maintenance on various material handling equipment and machinery for customers. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and customer service. Requirements

  • At least 5 years of heavy equipment or automotive repair experience in a related industry.
  • Relevant trade certification.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical concepts.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • High school diploma.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong asset.
  • Previous aerial platform and lift truck experience an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing, repairing, and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery.
  • Maintaining effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Discussing Service job details with customers and communicating a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirements.
  • Communicating with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered, and preparing required parts before visiting job sites.
  • Maintaining proper documentation where needed, including work order forms and warranty paperwork.
  • Reporting any safety incidents promptly and adhering to all safety policies.
