About The Position

Kokosing is seeking a Heavy Equipment Field Technician responsible for the repair and maintenance of large construction equipment. This role involves diagnosing and repairing various components such as transmissions, engines, differentials, and electrical/hydraulic systems in a field environment. The technician will utilize a laptop for diagnostics and information, document work through service reports, and participate in company training. The position focuses on heavy equipment, including trucks, trailers, and small construction equipment as needed. The role requires extensive travel to multiple jobsites across Indiana and potentially the southwest Ohio region.

Requirements

• Use hand tools, air tools, test equipment, powered shop tools, and overhead crane.
• Operation of a variety of types of equipment
• Diagnosis and repair of diesel engines
• Maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of equipment electrical systems
• Diagnose and repair aftertreatment systems
• Hydraulic troubleshooting
• Use of hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Ability to properly document work completed
• Desire to take on new challenges
• Willingness to work on a variety of equipment in both the shop and field environment

Nice To Haves

• Two-year technical degree in diesel technology, heavy equipment mechanics, or similar preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience preferred
• Crane knowledge a plus

Responsibilities

• Diagnosis and repair transmissions, engines, differentials, electrical and hydraulic components associated with heavy construction equipment in a field environment.
• Utilize a laptop computer for information and diagnostic purposes for the safe assembly and disassembly of components.
• Write and complete service reports.
• Participate in company training programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Focusing on Heavy equipment, this will also include trucks, trailers and small construction equipment as needed.
