About The Position

Leavitt Machinery is seeking a mechanically inclined Field Technician to join our Service team in Stratford, Ontario. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and performing routine maintenance on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery for our customers. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic and repair skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of heavy equipment or automotive repair experience in a related industry
  • Provincial Heavy Duty or Automotive Journeyperson’s ticket or a Relevant Red Seal Trade Certification is required
  • High school diploma
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to customer sites in the region is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hydraulics and diagnosing and servicing electric engines is a strong asset
  • Previous aerial platform and lift truck experience an asset
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to partner effectively with external customers and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong aptitude for learning and applying mechanical and technical concepts
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing, repairing, and completing routine maintenance and safety inspections on a variety of material handling equipment and machinery
  • Maintaining effective and consistent communication with the Service Dispatcher regarding ongoing Service jobs, and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Discussing Service job details with customers and communicating a clear understanding of the job scope and repair requirements
  • Communicating with the Parts department via phone and email to ensure required parts are ordered, and preparing required parts before visiting job sites
  • Maintaining proper documentation where needed, including work order forms and warranty paperwork
  • Reporting any safety incidents promptly and adhering to all safety policies
