About The Position

Intertek, a Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL) and leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking an entry-level CMT Field Technician to join our Professional Services Industries Inc. (Intertek-PSI) team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role offers a hands-on, outdoor opportunity to test materials like concrete and soil on active construction sites, with a clear career path into higher-level roles within the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry. Intertek's Building & Construction division provides assurance, testing, inspection, and consulting services, while Professional Services Industries Inc. (Intertek-PSI) is a leader in construction testing, inspection, and consulting services supporting major infrastructure and commercial projects across the U.S.

Requirements

  • No experience required - we will train entry-level candidates
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills
  • Basic math, calculator, and computer skills
  • Ability to read and understand work plans
  • Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed
  • Ability to lift, move, push, and pull up to 50 pounds if needed. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
  • Ability to climb occasionally

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred
  • Experience performing field and/or construction materials testing and/or inspections is preferred
  • Industry relevant certifications are preferred (ACI, ICC, DOT)

Responsibilities

  • Perform field testing on soil, concrete, and other construction materials
  • Observe site activities and document results
  • Work with construction plans, specs, and field data
  • Communicate with project teams and clients
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain accurate reports
