About The Position

This is a remote field technician position for L3Harris (Field Services Division) based in the New Orleans metropolitan area. The role involves supporting multiple programs and systems for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), including installation and maintenance of various networking and telecommunication equipment at customer locations. The position requires daily commuting to customer sites, which may be indoors or outdoors, within the assigned area. Field technicians must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision and possess strong communication skills.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience, OR a 2-year post-secondary/Associate's Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
Experience working with fiber, Carrier Ethernet, Multiplexes, DACS, Routers/Switches, Network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, Voice, and Data applications.
Experience with cable connectors and replacements including RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449, BNC and 50 pin Amphenol.
Experience with power testing (AC and DC).
Familiarity with configuration and operation of 24VDC & 48 VDC power supplies (rectifiers & fuse panels), backup power supplies (UPS’s), and site grounding (single & multiple point).
Experience logging into network equipment and circuit testing using various test equipment/laptops.
Knowledge of Bell Core Standards for Analog 4wire & 2 wire testing, Digital DSX1/T1 testing, Digital DSX3/T3 testing, Digital Serial RS232/RS530 testing, Carrier Ethernet RFC testing, and IP interface testing.
Experience using multiple test equipment: Viavi 5800, JDSU HST3000, DataScout, Ameritech AM5XT, Digital Oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, Anritsu Spectrum Analyzer, and other T1/DS3 Test sets.
Experience performing Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance on back-up generators.
Experience with Microsoft and the components of the MS Office Suite.
Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and/or local US State REAL ID equivalent and a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support for FAA programs/systems such as FTI, MS, ADS-B, DCNS, WMSS, and others supported by L3Harris.
Install, repair, configure, test, and perform preventative maintenance on various equipment at customer remote locations.
Work remotely in a scheduled and on-call capacity to various customer locations within the assigned area.
Occasionally travel to remote sites outside the assigned area to assist with FAA customer needs.
Read, understand, and follow equipment drawings and task orders.
Maintain good administrative skills, including taking notes and documenting work performed at customer locations.
Collaborate with the NOCC, SAC, and Helpdesk via phone to resolve field issues.
Maintain tools, test equipment, parts/electronics, truck stock inventory, and personal or company vehicles.
Be proactive and prepared for assigned tasks before dispatch.
Work outside regularly scheduled hours (on-call) as needed to meet customer requirements.
Lift items up to 32 lbs and use ladders/step stools to reach heights of approximately 10ft.
Adhere to L3Harris policies and procedures, as well as program-specific policies, under the guidance of a supervisor.
Obtain and maintain a DOT Public Trust Security Clearance and a DOD Secret Clearance.
Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and/or local US State REAL ID equivalent with a satisfactory driving record.
