About The Position

The Field Tech 1 provides assistance with collecting, testing, processing, and maintaining field and environmental samples, including air, soil, and water samples. The role applies fundamental field/environmental support policies, programs, and practices and completes appropriate forms, documents, and databases. The position performs standard field services such as collecting samples, completing test kits, recording and communicating results, and transporting samples, documents, materials, and other items. It also prepares vehicles for daily operations, processes logs and related information, supports staff and management with field/environmental policies and practices, and assists with resolving issues and meeting compliance requirements. The Field Tech 1 contributes to effective customer service and teamwork while promoting a courteous and cooperative workplace. Work is performed outdoors and in office and laboratory settings, with travel and possible exposure to weather, blood or bodily fluids, chemicals, fumes, gases, and noxious odors. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with overtime as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid driver's license; continued employment depends on maintaining required licenses and certificates in active status.
Ability to perform fundamental field/environmental support duties and provide standard support for field/environmental testing.
Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Knowledge of customer service, safe driving, field/environmental support practices, program administration, and standard sample-maintenance policies and procedures.
Ability to use related computer applications and systems and maintain databases, forms, documents, and other information.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, coworkers, and customers, including using correct business English.
Ability to interpret, apply, and explain organizational policies and procedures; use initiative and judgment within established procedures.
Ability to work effectively as a team member and individual contributor, provide customer service, and maintain effective working relationships.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience in a laboratory or environmental setting.

Responsibilities

Collect and review field/environmental conditions, take samples, complete test kits, and take, document, and communicate results.
Pick up, transport, and deliver results, samples, documents, materials, and other items as needed.
Prepare vehicles or trucks for daily operations, including documents, kits, supplies, materials, and safety items.
Review, complete, and process logs, documents, databases, and related materials and information.
Provide fundamental support and assistance to staff and management regarding field/environmental support policies, programs, and practices.
Support research into issues and develop recommendations to resolve employee, management, and customer issues.
Assist in reviewing and implementing field/environmental support policies, practices, and programs.
Assist with compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; seek guidance or escalate issues when required.
Suggest improvements and direct or participate as an active member of a work team.
Promote courteous and cooperative interactions with customers and staff and contribute to a harmonious and effective workplace.
