About The Position

Lone Star Paving is seeking a Heavy Paving Equipment/Diesel Mechanic to work closely with the Milling, Asphalt, and Maintenance Teams. The role involves ensuring company-owned tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained in good working order. The ideal candidate will have experience with paving equipment maintenance, particularly asphalt milling machines, and a strong understanding of asphalt work. This is a full-time position with a competitive hourly rate and benefits.

Requirements

  • Trade school or 3-5+ years of qualified experience.
  • Work experience with diagnostics, maintenance, and operation of asphalt milling machines.
  • Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Must be positive, friendly, and professional.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one setting.
  • Ability to engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Must demonstrate professional communication in reaching out to employees and managers for needed documents.
  • Willingness to take on additional tasks and responsibilities as they arise.
  • Exhibit excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize various tasks and complete them in a timely manner.
  • Able to perform duties independently.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Proper PPE is required at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Thorough understanding of asphalt work.
  • Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred.
  • Familiarity with MSHA and OSHA regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the condition of defective tools, equipment, and fleet vehicles at the Yard or job sites.
  • Collaborate with the Equipment Manager on troubleshooting defective equipment and finding solutions.
  • Prepare cost estimates for extensive or unusual repairs and seek authorization before proceeding.
  • Perform routine maintenance on company-owned tools, equipment, and vehicles according to a standard schedule.
  • Ensure maintenance is performed on schedule and to standard, and maintain accurate logs.
  • Place approved orders for replacement parts with vendors and inform the Equipment Manager of deliveries and paperwork.
  • Ensure the shop area is neat, clean, and orderly at the end of each day, with all tools stored properly.
  • Support company efforts to achieve client loyalty through additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Promote, execute, and adhere to the company's safety policy and encourage a culture of safety among all employees, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Work in a safe and responsible manner to prevent injury to oneself and others.
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees for information exchange and idea gathering.
  • Collaborate with project teams on special initiatives as required.
