About The Position

Herc-U-Lift, Inc. is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join their service and repair team in Huron, SD. This fast-paced role requires an individual who can travel to customer locations to repair material handling equipment, MEWPs, and rail car movers. The technician will manage their work as a small business, being dispatched from home in a company van and reporting on jobs via a tablet. The primary goal is to ensure customer satisfaction through technical expertise, timely responses, and excellent communication.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license
• Knowledge of engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, fuel systems, and/or charging systems.
• Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of computer systems and ability to learn new software for work orders.
• Ability to work well independently and with others.
• Organized with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Professional appearance and preparation.

Nice To Haves

• Some vocational or community college with related coursework preferred.
• 3+ years direct technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines.
• Diagnoses mechanical, electrical, or other breakdowns of material handling equipment (forklifts, MEWPS, rail car movers, rough terrain lifts).
• Performs disassembly, repair, and reassembly of various equipment components.
• Orders and installs replacement parts in coordination with the parts department.
• Maintains technical knowledge of all equipment brands.
• Utilizes tools of the trade, including precision instruments, welding equipment, shop machines, and power tools.
• Works with little supervision and assists other technicians.
• Maintains personal parts inventory in the company van.
• Follows all safety protocols.
• Completes and submits all required paperwork.
• Provides excellent customer service and offers additional services.
• Manages workload effectively.
• Job duties may change based on company or customer needs.
