The Field Service Technician – Oil & Gas delivers demand and scheduled field service, warranty service, and system start-up support to existing and new Oilgear customers worldwide. Work includes analyzing hydraulic and electrical component and system malfunctions, helping customers make repairs, or performing repairs directly to restore equipment operation. Service activities primarily focus on Olmstead legacy and current-design hydraulic equipment. The technician works regularly with Oilgear’s hydraulic and electrical engineering groups, providing customer support and field feedback that can inform quality and design improvements. The position requires 75% travel, including domestic and international travel to customer sites and offshore oil rigs. Offshore assignments may last up to six weeks. Work may involve flying directly to a rig and starting immediately, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces or elevated and challenging positions, including rig derricks up to 200 feet, and physically demanding conditions. The role requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience, and at least two years of mechanical and electrical experience. Candidates need experience with hydraulically operated machinery, troubleshooting, and system analysis; a valid driver’s license and good driving record; a valid passport or ability to obtain one; and the ability to pass offshore safety classes. A satisfactory background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screening are also required.
