Field Service Technician
About The Position
Motivate is seeking qualified Station Technicians (Field Service Technicians) to join our New York bikeshare team. As a technician, you help maintain station terminals and station components. Traveling around the system, the station technician checks the docking stations and provides maintenance to ensure proper operations. We currently have full-time positions available for morning and evening shifts, working a mixture of both weekday and weekend shifts. Please note that schedules are subject to change as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and for business need.
Requirements
- Electronically and mechanically inclined; knowledgeable in completing a variety of repairs
- Troubleshoot and provide solutions to technical problems
- Dependable, exhibit a strong work ethic, and take pride in your work
- Technical aptitude for both electronics and mechanical systems; previous experience in technical troubleshooting, identifying, and resolving issues; a background with electronics, repair, construction, or related preferred
- Safety-minded first, are comfortable with a voltmeter, hand and power tools
- Technologically proficient, comfortable using smartphone apps, email, chat/text, and can learn new technology and software applications
- Valid driver's license and can pass a motor vehicle record check
- Comfortable driving, stopping, and working in busy, outdoor urban environments
- Can lift to 75 pounds and can stoop, bend, and stand for long periods
Nice To Haves
- Forklift and pallet jack experience is a plus
Responsibilities
- Complete maintenance and test functionality of station components performing all diagnostic testing, troubleshooting station malfunctions and issues, both simple and complex, and completing both minor and major repairs
- Ensure that power is maintained to the network of stations, replacing and returning batteries to the depot for charging, inspecting batteries for safety and functionality
- Demonstrate expertise in all technical aspects and components of station hardware and software
- Operate a motor vehicle and/or ride a bicycle throughout an urban environment
- Ensure that all necessary reporting is accurate, complete, and timely
- Complete special projects assigned by management team
