About The Position

Rivian is hiring an emerging to mid-level Field Service Technician to support electric vehicle repairs, inspections, and field service operations while developing technical skills under the mentorship of senior technicians and leadership. The role is based primarily at a local service center but may also involve remote work, mobile service travel, or plant operations as business needs evolve. The technician is expected to provide a strong customer experience, follow repair and safety procedures, document work accurately, and build technical capability through ongoing training.

Requirements

Minimum age of 21 years.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, with no suspensions or revocations within the past 3–5 years.
Availability for a standard 40-hour workweek, potentially including weekends, holidays, early mornings, evenings, or overnights based on business needs.
Flexibility to travel to regional locations or production facilities as needed.
Proficiency with laptops and computers in Windows or Mac environments and with work order management systems.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, eagerness to learn, and high attention to detail.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs.
0–3 years of hands-on experience in an automotive shop or technical environment; recent graduates may apply.
Foundational understanding of basic electricity, including awareness of high- versus low-voltage systems.
Basic familiarity with circuit measurement tools such as a DVOM and introductory exposure to reading electrical schematics.
Familiarity with basic hand and power tools, entry-level tire repairs, and basic vehicle alignments.
Basic understanding of diagnostic workflows and troubleshooting steps under guidance.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma, GED, or recognized equivalency credential.
Ability to drive a non-commercial truck and trailer.
Graduation from an accredited automotive repair school or program.
Basic exposure to electric vehicle or hybrid frameworks.
Experience working in a fast-paced start-up environment.

Responsibilities

Perform or assist with assigned vehicle diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections at a service center, on a mobile route, or at a remote location.
Learn Rivian’s product line, EV framework, tools, and accessories while developing peer relationships and working under senior technician mentorship.
Use available technical resources and follow repair procedures without compromising quality or safety.
Conduct post-repair road tests to verify repair quality and operational safety.
Assist with parts operations, including ordering, receiving, shipping, inventory tracking, and work order and expense reporting.
Maintain detailed technical notes and documentation for completed and in-process repairs.
Interact professionally with customers, families, third-party affiliates, and suppliers at service facilities or outreach events.
Identify process improvements, provide constructive feedback to mentorship leads, and participate in service campaigns or containment initiatives.
Participate in required training, maintain current technical skills, and deliver high-quality work with increasing independence.
