About The Position

Rivian is hiring an emerging-to-mid-level Field Service Technician to grow technical skills while delivering an exceptional customer experience. The technician will work under the mentorship of senior technicians and leadership to support electric vehicle repairs, inspections, and field service operations. The role is based primarily at a local service center, with possible work at remote locations, on mobile service routes, or at production facilities as business needs evolve. The position calls for adaptability, strong communication, attention to detail, and interest in learning and innovation.

Requirements

Minimum age of 21.
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, with no suspensions or revocations within the past 3–5 years.
Availability for a standard 40-hour workweek, with potential weekend, holiday, early morning, evening, or overnight shifts based on business needs.
Flexibility to travel to regional locations or production facilities as needed.
Proficiency with laptops and computers in Windows or Mac environments and with work order management systems.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Basic understanding of electricity, including awareness of high- versus low-voltage systems; familiarity with a DVOM and introductory exposure to reading electrical schematics.
Familiarity with basic hand and power tools, entry-level tire repairs, and basic vehicle alignments.
Basic understanding of diagnostic workflows and troubleshooting steps under guidance.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma, GED, or recognized equivalency credential.
Ability to drive a non-commercial truck and trailer.
Graduation from an accredited automotive repair school or program.
0–3 years of hands-on experience in an automotive shop or technical environment; recent graduates are welcome.
Basic exposure to electric vehicle or hybrid frameworks.
Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

Perform or assist with vehicle diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections at service centers, on mobile routes, or at remote locations.
Learn to identify and explain Rivian products, EV frameworks, tools, and accessories while working under senior technician mentorship.
Use technical resources and follow repair procedures while maintaining quality and safety.
Conduct post-repair road tests to verify repair quality and vehicle operational safety.
Assist with parts operations, including ordering, receiving, shipping, inventory tracking, and work order and expense reporting.
Maintain detailed technical notes and documentation for completed and in-process repairs.
Interact professionally with customers, families, third-party affiliates, and suppliers at service facilities and outreach events.
Identify process improvements, provide constructive feedback to mentorship leads, and participate in service campaigns or containment initiatives.
Participate in required training, maintain current technical skills, and increase the quality of work performed with minimal supervision as experience grows.
