About The Position

The Fire Damper Inspector / Field Technician is responsible for conducting detailed inspections of commercial fire‑rated dampers to ensure compliance with NFPA 80 Standards. This role serves as a fire safety inspector, traveling nationwide to healthcare and commercial facilities to assess damper conditions, document findings, and support customer life‑safety and compliance efforts. Success in this role requires attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work independently in a travel‑intensive environment where you are paid to work and travel.

Requirements

  • Experience in inspections, field service, facilities, construction, HVAC, or technical roles
  • Ability to read and accurately follow Life Safety Plans
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify, document, and track deficiencies
  • Comfortable working above ceilings, on ladders, and in mechanical or occupied spaces
  • Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, computers, and Microsoft Office for reporting
  • Professional, customer‑focused demeanor in healthcare and commercial facilities
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently while traveling extensively
  • Strong record‑keeping and documentation habits
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to meet company driving and insurance eligibility requirements
  • Valid driver's license required. Ability to obtain and maintain identification necessary for work-related travel is required
  • Ability to travel up to 100% of the time (market dependent)
  • Ability to work occasional overtime, nights, weekends, or modified schedules as business needs require

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with fire dampers, fire doors, HVAC, life safety systems, quality control, or compliance
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards (NFPA 80), inspections, or regulated environments

Responsibilities

  • Inspect commercial fire‑rated dampers in accordance with NFPA 80 codes and standards
  • Complete REMEDI8® Fire Damper Inspection training per TMP‑001 and ISO 17020:2012 certification requirements
  • Identify, document, and report fire damper deficiencies accurately
  • Read, follow, and label Life Safety Plans (LSPs)
  • Complete tablet‑based electronic inspection reports and documentation
  • Ensure inspection records support customer compliance and reporting requirements
  • Maintain professional, timely communication with customers, field teams, and management
  • Properly use, maintain, and calibrate inspection tools and equipment
  • Support additional service lines as assigned
