About The Position

City Fire & Safety is hiring an experienced, field-ready Fire Alarm Inspector / Service Technician. You'll perform annual inspections, diagnose and repair system issues, program panels, and keep our customers' life-safety systems operating at peak performance. We need a technician who can walk onto a job site, find and fix shorts and ground faults in a timely manner, and stand behind the quality of their work. This is a hands-on role for a skilled tech who takes pride in doing the job right the first time.

Requirements

  • Fire alarm programming experience
  • ~5+ years of experience in fire alarm installation, maintenance, or a related field
  • Ability to use a tablet for reporting and documentation
  • Valid driver's license
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools
  • Ability to handle a physical workload and carry/move equipment up to 30 lbs
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent work ethic, communication, time management, and attention to detail
  • Able to pass a drug test
  • Flexibility to work overtime and some overnight travel
  • Dependable, hardworking, and ready to be a reliable part of the team

Nice To Haves

  • NICET certification preferred, but not required — we'll invest in the right person.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on fire alarm systems — including control panels, initiating devices, notification devices, and electrical wiring — to confirm they're operating efficiently
  • Find and fix shorts, ground faults, and wiring issues quickly and correctly
  • Install and program new and existing fire alarm systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve alarm, supervisory, and trouble conditions
  • Pull wire, install raceways, mount and program control panels
  • Identify risks to customers and provide effective solutions
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance on fire alarm systems
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of service parts
  • Create and submit inspection reports and expense reports
