About The Position

The Leonardo DRS Land Electronics business provides C4I Network computing and integrated situational awareness, as well as state-of-the-art embedded diagnostics, vehicle power management and combat vehicle integration products and services. We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment and Diesel Truck Mechanic to maintain and repair diesel-powered trucks and equipment. The ideal candidate has strong diagnostic skills, hands-on experience with hydraulic and electrical systems, and a solid understanding of electrical interfaces and transmissions.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a related technical field with 5 years experience or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Proven experience working with heavy equipment and diesel trucks
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment and repair tools
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
  • Relevant technical certification preferred but not required
  • Ability to obtain a Common Access (CAC) card.
  • Ability to travel to remote CONUS and OCONUS Customer locations is required, and long-term deployments (3 months or more) will be required.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy components and working in demanding conditions
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

  • Welding or fabrication experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, transmissions, and drivetrains
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, brake, and air systems
  • Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and preventative service checks
  • Use diagnostic software and tools to identify mechanical faults
  • Complete component replacements as needed
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment meets operational standards
  • Maintain accurate service records and repair documentation
  • Respond to field service calls when required
