About The Position

SMX is seeking a Field Service Representative to support an Army program at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. Under limited direction, the Field Service Representative (FSR) will be responsible for the optimization of the Army energy program’s metering and control systems, and for training Energy Specialists on those systems. The Field Service Representative will work with Facilities and Maintenance Directors at Army installations around the country to address mechanical and control issues for buildings and facilities under the responsibility of the Army. The Field Service Representative will write detailed daily reports pertaining to jobsite milestones and perform inspections and testing of utility monitoring systems. This position will require travel within the continental United States.

Requirements

  • Clearance Required: Secret
  • Bachelor's degree and 12 years of experience (Allowable substitutions: Master's and 10 years; Associate's and 14 years; High school diploma and 16 years of experience)
  • FSR experience, preferably with Johnson Controls: METASYS
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Utility Control Systems
  • Understand electrical and mechanical schematic diagrams, control diagrams, prints, building operations, and have a good understanding of electrical theory
  • Good knowledge of ICS, SCADA, BMS, PLC, and Metering systems and how they operate
  • Expert level user of Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Must be willing to travel up to roughly 10% of the time within the continental U.S. (up to 25%)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IT/OT in an operational environment is preferred but not necessary
  • Experience briefing Sr. Level informational charts
  • Experience interacting with Sr. Level leadership teams

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer support and work with the project engineers, other system engineers, and end-users to assist in developing cost effective methods for an efficient Utility controls design and system solution
  • Work with essential/key team members to understand their system requirements to ensure the correct IP infrastructure, points list, critical alarms, and scaling set points are integrated as designed
  • Properly addressing TCP/IP networks and RS-485 communications across multiple protocols including BACnet, Lon, Modbus, and others
  • Write detailed daily reports pertaining to jobsite milestones
  • Perform inspections and testing of utility monitoring systems
  • Train Energy Specialists on metering and control systems
