About The Position

We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in Mishawaka, IN. In this role, you will make an impact by completing repair activities on generators or components, engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner, performing maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools, maintaining detailed records of service, adhering to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies, and undergoing ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products. You will also be responsible for maintaining your own tools.

Requirements

  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities
  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience
  • Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision – hands on exposure to working on power generation products
  • Basic Diesel Engine experience
  • Proficient troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components
  • Able to perform repairs on ATS systems and able to perform commissioning on a new ATS installation
  • A current valid license is required for this role
  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
  • This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
  • 3 years driving experience
  • This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
  • Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
  • A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
  • Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older

Nice To Haves

  • Apprentice Certified Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
  • Current relevant electrical certification

Responsibilities

  • Completing repair activities on generators or components
  • Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of service

  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools
  • Conducting load bank testing
  • Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches and switchgear
  • Coordinate with subcontractors or other departments for site repairs
