About The Position

Diagnoses and completes less complex repairs to generators and components at the customer’s site. We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in (Portland, OR). In this role, you will make an impact by completing repair activities on generators or components, engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner, performing maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools, maintaining detailed records of service, adhering to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies, ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products, and maintaining own tools.

Requirements

  • A current valid license is required for this role
  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
  • This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
  • 3 years driving experience
  • This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
  • Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
  • Current relevant electrical certification
  • Locally valid driving permit
  • Basic level field service work experience
  • Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with of power generation products
  • High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience.
  • Customer service experience

Nice To Haves

  • Apprentice Certified Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Completing repair activities on generators or components
  • Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of service

  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools
  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.
  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience.
  • Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision – hands on exposure to working on power generation products.
  • Basic Diesel Engine experience.
  • Proficient troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components.
  • Able to perform repairs on ATS systems and able to perform commissioning on a new ATS installation.
