About The Position

We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in Hodgkins, IL. In this role, you will make an impact by completing repair activities on generators or components, engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner, performing maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools, maintaining detailed records of service, adhering to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies, ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products, and maintaining your own tools.

Requirements

  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.
  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience.
  • Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision – hands on exposure to working on power generation products.
  • Primarily engaged in preventative maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics on generators.
  • Basic Diesel Engine experience.
  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality.
  • 0-2 years of experience in power generation, diesel engines, automotive repair, industrial maintenance, or a related technical field.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude with a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic technical documents, wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, multimeters, and basic diagnostic equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be at least 18 years old with 2 years driving experience.
  • Must meet company motor vehicle record (MVR) requirements with no major violations.
  • Ability to safely lift, carry, and work around power generation equipment in industrial and outdoor environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Apprentice Trained Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
  • Current relevant electrical certification
  • Technical school training or certification in diesel technology, electrical systems, automotive technology, or power generation.
  • Exposure to generator systems, transfer switches (ATS), or industrial electrical equipment.
  • Experience in a field service, construction, manufacturing, or maintenance environment.
  • CDL may be required based on business needs.
  • Willingness to participate in training programs, emergency response work, and on-call rotations as required.

  • Support senior technicians with troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Learn and follow established service procedures, safety requirements, and troubleshooting practices.
  • Maintain tools, service vehicles, and work areas in a safe and professional manner.
