About The Position

Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to support customers throughout the Baltimore, Hagerstown, and DC region. You will be the go-to expert diagnosing and repairing specialized utility trucks and equipment in the field, including bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, service trucks, and other utility and construction equipment. CTOS supplies a fully equipped utility truck, including a crane, welder, and compressor. Qualified candidates must have tools, a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and be willing to work overtime and travel as needed. The primary responsibility is to perform vehicle troubleshooting, repair and maintenance work on chassis and track mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, high rail, and other equipment, in accordance with dealer and factory standards, in the field.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED.
Five years of related experience. (Shop Tech and Field Tech)
Must hold a valid driver’s license.
Must have your own tools.
Proficient in documentation using software, meeting deadlines and schedules.
Ability to regularly work in outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Physical capability for lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
The ability to bend, stoop, and lift, up to 50 lbs.
Comfort with heights and manual labor.
Manual dexterity for operating tools and equipment.
Positive attitude, professionalism, Punctual attendance.

Nice To Haves

Class B or A CDL is highly desired
Electrical, schematic / blueprints, hydraulic, welding, and related experience
Experience with Quick Serve, DTNA, or related diagnostic software.
DOT, ANSI, and Dielectric testing desired

Responsibilities

Perform inspections, troubleshooting, parts replacement, and repairs on rental, customer, and company units.
Reports to Service Manager, who will provide brief description of issues and supporting information related to the vehicle.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and repair orders/instructions to perform required maintenance and service. (Must have the ability to utilize laptop, etc. to be able to access needed information and perform diagnostic tests.)
Performs work as outlined in work instructions set forth by Service Manager; efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with Custom Truck One Source standards.
Diagnosis and repair LMI Diagnostics (Load Moment Indicator) and CAN bus (Controller Area Network)
Experience troubleshooting and repair of Utility trucks & Equipment including electrical and hydraulics.
Inspects and services vehicles and makes repairs and adjustments both at the service center and in the field.
Verify work performed, road test vehicles as necessary.
Prepare inspection reports, repair orders (recording service time and parts costs) and timecards completely and accurately.
Tag all warranty and core parts for return.
Advises management immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
Attends CTOS safety training and follows all safety requirements.
Attends CTOS and factory -sponsored training classes.
Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
Communicate easily with customers and internal departments to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
Flexibility to travel beyond the area of coverage, based on business need.
Work closely with Service Manager to grow and improve customer satisfaction.
