About The Position

Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) is seeking a Field Service Mechanic/Technician to perform vehicle troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on chassis and track-mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, high rail, and other equipment in the field. This role involves working on hydraulics, electrical wiring, and diesel systems, with a focus on utility trucks and equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, and truck-mounted cranes. The position reports to the Service Manager and requires adherence to dealer and factory standards, as well as CTOS standards for efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Five years of related experience (Shop Tech and Field Tech).
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have your own tools.
  • Proficient in documentation using software, meeting deadlines and schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL Class B preferred.
  • Electrical, schematic / blueprints, hydraulic, welding, and related experience.
  • Experience with Quick Serve, DTNA, or related diagnostic software.
  • DOT, ANSI, and Dielectric testing desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform vehicle troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on chassis and track-mounted aerials, digger derricks, cranes, high rail, and other equipment in accordance with dealer and factory standards, in the field.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and repair orders/instructions to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Utilize a laptop to access needed information and perform diagnostic tests.
  • Perform work as outlined in work instructions set forth by the Service Manager efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with Custom Truck One Source standards.
  • Diagnose and repair LMI Diagnostics (Load Moment Indicator) and CAN bus (Controller Area Network).
  • Troubleshoot and repair Utility trucks & Equipment including electrical and hydraulics.
  • Inspect and service vehicles and make repairs and adjustments both at the service center and in the field.
  • Verify work performed and road test vehicles as necessary.
  • Prepare inspection reports, repair orders (recording service time and parts costs) and timecards completely and accurately.
  • Tag all warranty and core parts for return.
  • Advise management immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.
  • Attend CTOS safety training and follow all safety requirements.
  • Attend CTOS and factory-sponsored training classes.
  • Understand and follow federal, state, and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
  • Communicate easily with customers and internal departments to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
  • Travel beyond the area of coverage, based on business need.
  • Work closely with Service Manager to grow and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Perform additional duties or responsibilities as designated by the Service Manager.
