About The Position

Emerson is seeking an engineering student for a Field Service Engineering Intern position for Summer 2026. This role, based in Tinley Park, IL, offers an opportunity to travel, learn, and grow professionally. The intern will join a global team focused on installation, service, and maintenance of software/services for the power, renewables, and water & wastewater treatment markets. Emerson Power & Water Solutions helps customers in crucial industries tackle modern challenges through innovation, making the world healthier, safer, smarter, and more sustainable. The role involves upgrading plant control systems with automation controls and instrumentation to enhance the sustainability and longevity of North America's power grid and wastewater infrastructure. The internship provides hands-on work experience and on-the-job training with support from senior engineers and mentorship.

Requirements

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical discipline.
  • Travel up to 5%.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Be part of a global, collaborative, and innovative team passionate about solving complex electrical, mechanical, and software problems.
  • Learn about automation solutions for our project process and products to meet our customer demands.
  • Provide new and diverse ideas to the engineering and management teams.
  • Build and develop technical capabilities.
  • Work in an office, travel to the field, visit vendors, and/or observe system manufacturing and testing activities.
  • Gain real-world application of engineering principles balanced with an understanding of customer needs and financial/schedule constraints.
  • Be paired with senior engineers for mentorship and training.
  • Work together with other interns and co-ops on specific multi-functional projects.
