About The Position

Emerson offers an exciting opportunity for an engineering student to travel, learn, and grow professionally as a Field Service Engineering Intern for Summer 2026. Based in Tinley Park, IL, in the Central Regional Office, this role is part of a global team that performs a variety of complex engineering functions related to the installation, service, and maintenance of software/services for the power, renewables, water & wastewater treatment markets. At Emerson Power & Water Solutions, the team helps customers in crucial industries by upgrading existing plant control systems with industry-leading automation controls and instrumentation to promote the sustainability and longevity of the North American power grid and wastewater infrastructure. The intern will receive hands-on work experience and on-the-job training, supported by senior engineers and mentorship.

Requirements

Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical discipline
Travel up to 5%
Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this position

Responsibilities

Be part of a global, collaborative, and innovative team passionate about solving complex electrical, mechanical, and software problems
Learn about automation solutions for our project process and products to meet our customer demands
Provide new and diverse ideas to the engineering and management teams
Be given opportunities to build and develop your technical capabilities
Have opportunities to work in an office, travel to the field, visit vendors, and/or observe system manufacturing and testing activities
Can expect to receive a real-world application of engineering principles balanced with an understanding of customer needs and financial/schedule constraints
Be paired with senior engineers to provide you with mentorship and training
Work together with other interns and co-ops on specific multi-functional projects
